Alliance Business Centers Network (ABCN) has attracted 64 new foreign companies last year to its branches in Dubai Silicon Oasis and Dubai Business Village, with investments exceeding AED 220 million in various sectors in the emirate, and a growth of 30 % compared to 2011.
Out of the total number of new foreign companies that have established presence at Dubai-based Alliance Business Centers last year, 42 % were Asian, 31 % were European, while firms from Africa comprised 21 % and from the U.S. 6 %.
As for the breakdown of companies per sector, the trade sector amounted to 39 % of new entrants, followed by 38 % for marketing and management consulting and 23 % for companies specializing in Information Technology.
Osama Salman, Chairman of Alliance Business Centers Network, UAE, confirmed that this achievement reflects the growing confidence from foreign investors in the positive outlook for the national economy, adding: "The bundle of mega-projects that were launched last year, especially the 'Mohammed Bin Rashid City' project, sent the world a very important message that Dubai's ambition knows no boundaries and the emirate will continue to create investment opportunities driven by economic diversification and by stimulating investment and commercial activity in various sectors while receiving complete government backing."
Moreover, the Chairman of Alliance Business Centers in the UAE noted that the wise leadership's decisions earlier this year to adopt Islamic economics as an essential component to Dubai's economy is a strategic addition to the emirate's position on the economic and investment map regionally and globally, as it opens new and unique horizons and opportunities in a sector witnessing rapid growth year-on-year, not only in Arab and Islamic states but also worldwide.
Further commenting on the performance of Alliance Business Centers during the past year, Salman said: "Alliance Business Centers strives to attract foreign companies that can contribute effectively with their vast experience and investments in the development of strategic sectors within Dubai's economic system. This achievement highlights our strong partnership with different government entities, especially the Department of Economic Development in Dubai and its affiliates, as well as the authority overseeing Dubai Silicon Oasis , and is testament to the efforts of government institutions to cooperate with the private sector for the benefit and prosperity of Dubai's economy. "
On his part, Sherif Kamel, President of Alliance Business Centers Network for the Middle East and North Africa, emphasized that the growth in the number of companies setting up operations at Alliance branches in Dubai is a reflection of the diverse opportunities the emirate is erupting with across various sectors, especially in light of its competitive advantages that have become a distinguishing trademark of Dubai, setting it aside from regional and global counterparts. This is due to its flexibility and dynamism in keeping up with economic changes and building new economic avenues for the local and foreign investor, he added.
Business centers in general, and Alliance in particular, contribute to enhancing the attractiveness of the emirate by providing more efficient options for establishing headquarters and branches for companies, whether large, medium or small, said Kamel, adding: "The cost of renting office space in business centers is 35 % lower than that of traditional offices, as they do not require the tenant to pay any additional expenses such as for furnishing and equipment and so on. Tenants can also enjoy readiness for immediate occupancy whether for the short, medium or long-term, in addition to flexible contracts with clear and convenient conditions."
Kamel explained that relying on business centers as the headquarters for management and employees allows companies to focus on their core operations and avoid any procedural complications when it comes to renting and office management and related responsibilities such as maintenance and others.
"Alliance centers provide an ideal platform for local and foreign companies in various sectors due to their prestigious and diverse working environment and in the most strategic locations in the emirate, whether in the city in the Business Village or in Dubai Silicon Oasis , which is one of the most prominent free zones in the emirate. In addition, the centers offer integrated services for establishing a business and providing technical and administrative support for tenants' operations."
